"I want to be a life-long learner...AND a life-long grower...
If there is such a thing."

–Workshop Participant

Parents have many hopes and dreams for their children, but one of the most common is that their children get what they value in life. In addition, they hope that their offspring will make conscious decisions and stay in control of their lives rather than having life “process” them. But this goal can only be achieved through a lifelong process called self-growth; one in which a person learns to improve his or her performances and values through effective self-assessment of his or her behavior.

—Faculty Guidebook 4.2.2 Becoming a Self-Grower

Growth is absolutely a life-long process. That is the level of commitment required of individuals who seek success not only educationally, but in life. A cornerstone of Process Education is that transformational change (growth) is valued as highly as any knowledge that a learner constructs (learning). Growth can be seen as the active participation in positive transformational change.

Pacific Crest has spent more than 20 years studying, observing, researching and learning how to facilitate transformational change in institutions, faculty members, and students. We are pleased to share some of the results of our work: The Transformation of Education (www.transformation-of-education.com).

As the introduction to this interactive and interesting learning object offers,

The Transformation of Education is really about transforming ourselves — encouraging our own growth as well as our awareness of our growth. This is not an all-or-nothing proposition, nor is it something that can be accomplished quickly. It is a continuing process, this shifting from red to green, this moving and improving.
